ISE facilitates cross-global partnership to promote the science of endocrinology in India

The International Society of Endocrinology (ISE) is proud to announce the launch of the inaugural International Clinical Update program in Endocrinology (ICUE), taking place on 1-2 February in Hyderabad, India.

ISE has brought together three of it’s National Members - The Endocrine Society (US), Society for Endocrinology (UK) and the host society - Endocrine Society of India (ESI) to form an international collaborative with over 65 years combined experience in post graduate training to provide an essential endocrinology update program for up to 1000 trainees, endocrinologists and general physicians practicing in India and its neighboring regions.

Dr Sarita Bajaj Local Syllabus Chair for ICUE 2014, India commented: “It is an honour and a privilege for The Endocrine Society of India to host the 1st International Clinical Update Endocrinology in Hyderabad. This program will go a long way in fulfilling the needs of Physicians in India to provide better care for their patients.”

The ICUE initiative is being hailed as significant and will bring together a wealth of world-renowned experts from across the entire endocrine spectrum, including paediatrics, internal medicine, endocrinology, gynaecology, urology, andrology and orthopaedics. It will serve to showcase the best and latest innovations and clinical research whilst providing delegates with a unique opportunity to network with peers from across the world.

“This meeting is part of a broader effort to bring cutting-edge programming to physicians in India, one of the fastest-growing hubs for scientific and academic research worldwide,” said Teresa Woodruff, PhD, president of The Endocrine Society. “Making educational programs accessible to endocrinologists around the world is one of the Society’s top initiatives, and the International Clinical Update program promises to be the largest event we’ve supported in India to date.”

The first of its kind, the prestigious two-day course will be delivered by a combination of distinguished national and international clinicians in a lively format comprising a mixture of lectures, MTP, cases and panel discussions.

Leon Heward-Mills, Chief Executive of the Society for Endocrinology said: “We are committed to supporting endocrinologists at every stage of their careers both in the UK and overseas, and we are particularly keen to engage with medical professionals India and South East Asia. As a world leading authority on hormones, we are proud to be involved with this excellent educational event.

By engaging with our society partners from the United States and India, we believe that the inaugural International Clinical Update in Endocrinology will enable us to play a supportive role in advancing our science in one of the fastest growing scientific, research and academic centres in the world in a highly engaging and interactive environment.”

This initiative is a key part ISE’s strategic plan to provide greater support to its member societies in developing nations, especially those lacking continental representation.
